It is a residence title that together with a valid passport entitles you to enter and stay in the Schengen area ("Schengen States"). It might allow you to:

  • either transit through or an intended stay in the territory of the Schengen States of a duration of no more than 90 days in any 180 days ("short-stay visa"),
  • or transit through the international transit areas of airports of the Schengen States ("airport transit visa").

This visa is marked with a "C" symbol.

The type of work which requires you to obtain a seasonal work permit. Classification of economic activities which are considered as seasonal work is specified in the Ordinance of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy on the subclasses of economic activities concerning Polish classification of economic activities (PKD), in which seasonal work permits are issued. This permit is granted for the period of the permit for seasonal work held by the foreigner, or extension of seasonal work permit, not longer than 9 months from the day of the first entry (using a valid visa or through visa-free border traffic), for the purpose of seasonal work, occurring in a given calendar year.

It is a form of pursuing a gainful activity on your own account, like running a company, any business activity. It can be performed by a natural person or a in a form of civil law partnership. This economic activity must be registered in the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG).

It is your husband or your wife.

These are your financial resources to cover living expenses in Poland. If you live in Poland on your own, the minimum amount total of 776PLN net monthly. If you live in Poland together in a household with your family members, who are your dependents, you are obliged to have financial means in the amount of at least 600PLN net monthly for yourself and each family member separately. Documents confirming a stable source of income include:

  • an employment contract,
  • a certificate of employment,
  • Tax return (PIT) for the previous calendar year,
  • a certificate of obtained income.

If you applied for a residence permit during your legal stay in Poland and your application is free from any formal defects, you will receive a stamp in your passport, which certifies that your application was filed. Your stay in Poland is considered to be legal from the date of applying to the date on which the decision on granting a residence permit becomes final. The stamp does not entitle you to travel abroad.

A written statement in which the internship organizer undertakes to bear the costs of issuing and executing a return decision, if such a decision has been issued and made before the expiry of six months from the date of expiry of the internship contract and the basis for issuing this decision was your illegal stay on Polish territory.

As an employer, you must inform the Governor issuing the work permit about the termination of work by the foreigner. You have 7 days for this.

It is a special form of residence permit for foreigners who do not qualify for refugee status and who would face a real risk of suffering serious harm like death penalty or execution, torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment of an applicant, serious and individual threat to a civilian's life or person by reasons of indiscriminate violence in situations of international or internal armed conflict, if s/he returned to the country of origin. Subsidiary protection in Poland is granted by Head of The Office for Foreigners in Warsaw.

Sufficient financial resources are the minimum amount of funds that you must have to cover the costs of living for the whole period of your stay in Poland after deducting the expenses of return travel to your country of origin, your tuition fees and housing costs (housing costs shall apply to applications submitted after 27th April 2019). 

If you are single, the minimum amount is 776 PLN for each month of your stay + the cost of your return travel to your country of origin + the cost of your tuition for each month of your stay + housing costs (housing costs shall apply to applications submitted after 27th April 2019). 

If you are staying in Poland with your family members, who are dependent on you, you must have at least 600PLN for yourself and each family member for each month of stay + financial means to cover the cost of return travel for yourself and family members + the cost of tuition fees for each month of stay + housing costs (housing costs shall apply to applications submitted after 27th April 2019). . 

The financial contribution to cover the costs of return travel to the country of origin is as follows:

  • 200PLN if you come from a country neighbouring with Poland,
  • 500PLN if you come from another than neighbouring with Poland EU-country,
  • 2500PLN if you come from a non-EU country.

If you have a return ticket to your home country, you do not need to have the money to cover your return travel costs.

The documents that confirm having sufficient funds are:

  • traveller's cheque,
  • certificate from the bank with the information about the limit on your credit card, issued not earlier than one month before the date of submitting the application for temporary residence permit,
  • certificate of having means of payment in a bank established in Poland, issued not earlier than one month before the date of submitting an application for a temporary residence permit,
  • document confirming the granting of a national or foreign scholarship,
  • certificate of employment and amount of salaries, issued not earlier than one month before the date of submitting the application for a temporary residence permit.

Financial resources that you must provide for the invited foreigner. Currently, they amount to 515 PLN for you and each dependent family member and each invited foreigner monthly. If you cover the above costs together with your spouse, you need also present your spouses' written consent to cover the expenses and evidence of their financial resources.

The invited foreigner's return travel costs to the country of origin or residence are as follows:

  • 200 PLN for a return trip to a country neighbouring Poland,
  • 500 PLN for a return trip to a European country,
  • 2,500 PLN for travel to a non-European third country.

Sufficient means describes the minimum of the financial means that you need to cover the costs of living in Poland. Their amount may be changed. Currently the minimum is 776PLN per month if you are in a single household or 600PLN per person in a family household.

The documents that confirm having sufficient funds are:

It is a putting of the examination of your application on hold, e.g. you may request it in case of leaving Poland for a few months. You can request to suspend the procedure and continue it after your return to Poland. In such a case you need to apply for suspension. Suspension of proceedings shall take the form of a provision, against which you have the right to lodge a complaint. During the suspension of proceedings at your request, your legal stay in Poland based on the open procedure becomes undocumented/irregular. If you want to continue, you can reopen the proceedings. All you have to do is to submit a request to reopen the proceedings.
